Eliminate Fear of Rejection and Never be Afraid to Speak in Front of an Audience Again

, , , , ,

Most people have either had a bad experience with public speaking or have avoided getting up in front of an audience fearing that they may be rejected for one reason or another. In either case the mere thought of getting up in front of an audience and failing or feeling like the audience is scrutinizing their presentation is very daunting. So how does one get over this public speaking fear or how I like to call it –“perceived fear” because all or most of this is in your head?  Remember the first thing is that the audience is “your audience” and you are the presenter which means you are in control. The audience is listening to you as they see you as an authority; this may be hard to believe but is true the only person that is the harshest critic is yourself.  Ok this is simple to say but how do you get over being your own critic? How do you realize confidence before you step on stage?  The answer is knowing some basic fundamentals before you speak and feeling comfortable with not only who you are but the way you will deliver content that will be delivering and using a formula that will give you the assurance that your presentation is being well received.  Remember 90% of your nervousness does not show to your audience.

First of all let’s talk content.  Is it relevant to the audience and will the audience gains from your presentation. If you feel that your content will be of value to your audience then you have the first step down and you should feel confident that your material is being well received. You can test this by posing rhetorical questions for audience buy in. Let’s back up a second though…  The design of the presentation will give you even more self assurance because you will have a sort of script to follow this alone will give you as a speaker great confidence.

You can attend a public speaking workshop to be able to learn to design your presentation, but I will give you a little insight. First of all make sure that your title is presented as “solution” to/for your audience that way you have their undivided attention at the beginning of the presentation. Trust me when you feel you have your audience focused on your topic at the onset of your presentation this will give you the confidence right off the bat. Then you will go into the body of the presentation, this is where you will have the opportunity to back up your solution (title).Once gain, a good public speaking workshop will be able to teach you how to design a good body with the major points of focus. For example you will want to use no more than 3 points and you will back each point up with some evidence or a factual account. The presentation does not end after you have finished with the last point. This is where you have the opportunity to close your audience.  You will review or recap your presentation points and then tie them back into the title which was or is your solution.

When participants who take public speaking workshops learn this they become very confident and effective with their presentations and if you choose to take a public speaking class you will eliminate your fear of rejection and never be afraid to speak in public again.

You Would be Surprised How Time Management Skills Can Improve Your Life

, , , , , ,

Most people are extremely bad at time management skills but deceptively think that they are in total control of their time. The deception is that they do not have an accounting system that tracks their time that measures their goals whether big or small. It’s probably safe to assume that most people only accomplish forty percent of what they set out to go for a given period of time.  If you want to validate this point just write down all the things you want to accomplish in one week at on Sunday, put the list out of sight then look back at list at end of week and you will see what you have truly accomplished and it will surprise you. They say that that time is money and I say money is time if you look at that way your time will be really precious. Time is a valuable commodity which is defined in Webster’s as – something of use, advantage, or value and is  a concept that very few people can apparently grasp. This is because time is deceptive being that most people do not have a sufficient accounting system to monitor the time they spend during their lives, and most people will realize that in order to accomplish what they need to they will have to start looking into what is causing this problem of time management skills. The remedy is very simple but takes practice and discipline because the second you let your system down is the time that you will surely not accomplish your goals. You have to train your mind by starting to first distinguishing your priorities and rank them accordingly into these four categories:

And stick to the process of not only actually sticking to this system of taking care of accomplishing what needs to be done first and what can wait. This is exactly how MOST people get off track and end up with only forty percent of goals accomplished at end of week. You will also have to be good at and develop the discipline to be able to say no to people or situations that will either slow your progress or steal your time (this seems to be  BIG issue with most people). Learning to say no to people or situations will certainly add a good healthy 25% back to your time management. It will take a while for you to be able to train my your mind to be able to prioritize your time management skills and it is suggested that you start with a good chart system and disciple to monitor your progress and will  be surprised how time management will improve your life!

, , , ,

Team Building Activities

Team building is one of the most significant parts of the success achieved by a company. If the team members spend together for most of the time the industry tends to grow faster. The team building exercise is the most important one to make the company to move further. If the employees in the team are not cohesive, then it hinders the industry seriously in the market.

Employee Team Building Games

The experts who are involved in team building activities generate office team building games which play in binding the employees together. Friendship and kindness are intensely felt by the customers through the warm services extended by the team members. The working teams are cooperative with much difficulty primarily. They need to have groups or teams which share the views of the team members internally. This makes the team progress well as a single vehicle with good association extended by every employee.

Staff Team Building Games

Team Building GamesIt is very important for the team members to think that he or she is competing with the other team or other company and not with each other inside the team. This feeling in every team member will generate positive attitude towards the work and can improve their teamwork very rapidly in competing with the given task. It is also important to be felt by everyone individually that each one in the team is a vigorous force to participate in the success of the company. But, it is more effective if all these forces together fight for the difficult project and contribute each of their efforts. The flaws in any of the ideas will be nullified and the plus points in any one will get elevated by the team work.

Building a team which has good internal environment is more important for every business. This happens just because the results of the business projects will come out wonderfully only when there is a good relationship between team members. The team must also have good interactions with the management, to give good results.

How to Improve Your Memory Quickly

Having a Good Memory

memeory 2

Fortunately I have always had a good memory and thought that most people did too, but was surprised how many people out there have trouble remembering events, names and occurrences. I also learned and been teaching a memory technique that is one of the best I’ve come across in years. This memory technique is a product of learning to tap into your potential in order for self improvement.

These days’ people are looking for the latest and greatest in order to be successful. How many times have you just got off the phone after a successful interview and forgot the person’s name that you were speaking with or met someone at a business function and minutes later forgot their name. This could be detrimental to your success in life. William James, a Psychologist said that (and I am sure that you may have come across this statistic sometime in your lifetime) that most of us only use 10% of our potential in our lifetime. That means there is 90% of untapped human potential.

Memory Techniques

I’m going to illustrate that we can tap into that potential by simply using a simple exercise to improve your memory in a short period of time. The mind tends to think and relate better to pictures faster, so here goes the magic. If I suggest to you to think of the word duck what pops into your head ? an image of Donald Duck, a Mallard Duck sitting on a pond, of course you immediately get a mental image of the word that is heard and processed by your brain. You do not immediately think of the word DUCK do you? The problem is that when we were taught early on in elementary school how to memorize they did not use a technique associated with the mental image process. Instead you were just taught to memorize by rote and that was a lot harder and longer process. Well here’s a memory technique that will help you improve your memory and it goes like this if you already had not guessed. If I taught you ten public speaking tips and the next day you tried to remember without using this memory technique you may get three or four but if I you used this technique you would probably remember 8 or 10 and probably in order! Let’s try five to illustrate this example.

  1. 90 % of your nervousness does not show.
  2. Do not try to recite word for word.
  3. Do not memorize your speech
  4. Show up early
  5. Take Deep Breaths
  6. Look for a friendly face in the audience

Now try to memorize these in order then close your eyes and try to recite them. Don’t cheat

After you try to recite and only get a couple then try this.

Associate the six tips with a little story and it goes like this and is based on a horse race

  1. Favorite horse no showed
  2. Jockey was trying to write a down grocery list word for word
  3. Could not remember exactly what his wife wanted
  4. because he was watching his time
  5. Horse had to take deep breaths from running fast
  6. The jockey in front was smiling cause he was ahead

Now use this memory association scenario and then close your eyes and try to remember the seven tips. I’m sure that you probably get them all and probably in order because of the logical sequential flow of the scenario. It’s easy to see how using a simple technique can improve your memory quickly!
