If your team can’t trust you they probably are not going to follow you, listen to you, respect you or defend you when the time comes. They want to know that their leader has their back and is really looking out for their best interest. Those that earned the trust of their employees tend to be more motivated to achieve the ultimate goal. Trust is a powerful motivational tool and if your team can trust you to do what you say you’re going to do it will be more inclined to do what they are supposed to do.

#2. Make Sure All Team Members Understand the Goal.

If everyone is aware of the collective vision they will work together to succeed as a team. If you only inform half of the team members or imply confusing agendas it can distract from the glory of reaching that goal together. Make sure everyone is on the same page and you’ll have a much more cohesive team.

#3. Appreciate.

There’s nothing more powerful then team members feeling appreciated. Everyone wants to feel like they are an important part of the team. Feeling appreciated, thanked and valuable can work wonders to pushing people to work harder and better.

#4. Challenge People.

People cannot growth they are not challenged. If they simply stay in a mundane cycle they feel worthless and bored. By making sure that the tasks are completed in a challenging way giving each team member a goal that utilizes their guests, they will grow together creating a better end result.

#5. Celebrate Success.

Even small successes can motivate the team to work harder for the end goal. Small challenges, menial tasks and individual wins all should be celebrated not just from the leader but for the whole team. Team members view others as having achieved the goal and the consciously want that for themselves. They will continue to work in their individual tasks as well as for the common goal.
